Most of America got to know Shay “Buckeey” Johnson from the second season of the popular hit show, Flavor of Love 2. Debuting with over 3.9 million viewers in its premiere episode and ending with 7.5 million by the season finale, Flavor of Love 2 became the highest rated show that was not sports related, as well as VH1’s highest viewed show in the channel’s history. It wasn’t reality TV however, that Shay got her first taste of the entertainment industry.
Appearing in music videos while running her own promotional company in her hometown of Atlanta, Georgia, Shay began featuring in music videos with T.I., Young Dro, C-Lo, Jazze Pha, Fabolous, Shawty LO and more. Upon appearing on FOL 2, she also graced the cover of King Magazine in October 2006, which featured past contestants, as well as a feature six-page spread in Smooth Magazine in early 2007and eight-pages in 2009. In 2010 Shy received several pages in the Jamaican issue of BlackMen’s Magazine. Shay has also appeared in hair publications from 2007 through 2009 such as Sophisticates’ Black Hair, Blackmens Magazine, and Metro Style Hair Magazine.
Continuing in the pursuit of a viable television career Shay was also asked to make special guest appearances on both the Maury Povich Show and Tyra Banks Show, Top 25 Celebrity Couples BET Special, 106 N park, Rap City’s Who’s that Girl, The Reality Remix Awards, and MTV’s airing of the Ozone Music Awards. With television and music under her belt Shay moved on to get a taste of radio. She’s made guest host appearances on morning radio shows such as Frank and Wanda in the Morning (V103/Atlanta), as well as the popular syndicated afternoon show, The Wendy Williams Experience (107.5/New York).
Rejoining the VH-1 Celeb-reality circuit, Shay returned to VH-1 to be part of Charm School, a series hosted by comedienne Mo’Nique, With a finale record closing of 4.1 million viewers, Charm School became VH-1’s third highest rated show amongst 18-49 year old viewers, and solidified her title as one of VH-1’s Favorite Celeb- Reality Bad Girls. Shay won the show’s greatest prize: lessons about trust, personal responsibility and belief in self.

Shay continues to practice these lessons by evolving into an actress, as well as entrepreneur. She has continued to host events throughout the US, producing calendars, xbox skins and I Phone merchandise, filling in for Radio Jockeys, making cameo appearances in independent films, television and even plays. Her latest being the “Pocket Monologues” stage play where she appears alongside Ella Joyce, Essence Atkins, Myra, J, Kandi, Lisa Woo, Nicci Gilbert, Queen Aisha, and Lisa Woo. Shay’s newest endeavors revolve around developing and launching a charity organization in her community to give back to our Urban youth.
