Afro Diamond was born in Paris on July 8th 1989. She started playing the piano at age 5. Encouraged by her father, by age 12, she began writing and composing her own music while discovering her unique singing voice. She took the stage for the first time two years later and this is how the beautiful journey begun. She toured in Europe, opening for the international Jazz musician Manu Dibango.
Afro Diamond decided to move to Los Angeles in September 2011 to pursue her career and realize her dreams. Working with 7 time Grammy nominated producer Haskel Jackson Jr. has been a real joy for her. He has helped her make this debut album a great one.
Originally from Douala, Cameroon, we can feel the African spirit in her sound, in her way of singing, of moving, of thinking. She’s also influenced by artists such as Marvin Gaye, Whitney Houston and Des’Ree. All this mixture of cultures combined with a unique pure voice caused her to create what she likes calling the “AfroSoul” sound that she has today.
